Drop the candy bar and step away from the schoolyard.

For any of you that look at my photo gallery, you may have noticed several galleries are now missing. They aren't gone, they are just password protected. Family and close friends have access, and no one else. Why? Have you payed any attention to the number of people that they are busting that are Internet sexual predators, pedophiles, sickos, whatever? Joy and I have 4 daughters, and if it takes keeping them off the Internet until they are old enough to understand it to keep them safe, so be it. I don't even want some pervert looking at the pictures of our kids. I don't want to put them at any more risk then they already face every day living in this perverted world.

Chopstick or Fork?

For Fathers Day, Joy bought me a really nice book on making sushi, and some other valuable implements used in the preparation thereof. I'm a sushi addict and will likely never turn down an opportunity to enjoy sashimi, nigiri-zushi, and maki-zushi... So yummy. And I'll take a hot bowl of miso any day of the week! Now to start the process of learning how to make it at home.

We went to see the Goo Goo Dolls/Counting Crows kick off their tour at the Clark County Ampitheater in Ridgefield, Washington. A very good show indeed. It was my first time seeing either act live, and it was well with it. Highly recommended.

Gratuity, please.

Why is it that everywhere you go these days, people are expecting tips? Go to just about any coffee shop, eatery, and in some cases, book and records stores, and you'll see a tip jar on the counter. Are people really seriously expecting us as consumers to tip them for doing their job? Tips are typically meant for wait staff in hotels, restaurants, chaffeurs, etc. They generally receive a smaller hourly rate with the remainder of their income coming from their tips. This motivates these people to do a good job, and when they do, I make sure I tip them well, at least 20% or more. That way, they'll be more than happy to take good care of me or anyone else that requires their service. Thats a good investment. I'm not about to drop a dollar into a jar on a counter just because someone handed me a cup of coffee and a donut.

A pill for whatever ails ya...

You see a TV show or a commercial featuring medical problems, and you start feeling the symptoms yourself: a twinge in the leg or maybe a moment of doubt about your emotional stability.

If so, you, like millions of Americans, could be suffering from a serious condition known as telechondria. But help is here, with new Advertil(R) in the green-and-yellow caplet. Ask your doctor …

No, wait, don't really ask. Telechondriacs have not yet been recognized by science. Pharmacists are not dispensing drugs like "Advertil," and they probably never will. The last chemical that pharmaceutical executives would want to sell you is one that makes it harder for them to convince you that you're sick and need their products.

Take two of these and read all about it here...

Oops.

A small mix up with my domain registrar and I almost lost nerdnet. Luckily, its all sorted out now. I should pay more attention to those "your domain will expire soon!" emails... :)

Happy Birthday Dezarae!

Our daughter Dez turned 14 today! I can't believe it! As a dad you don't want to imagine your daughters growing up into teenagers / young women but when I look at Dezarae I see how strong and smart she is, I am proud. I still haven't figured out a legal way of keeping boys away from her, but rest assured, I am working on it. We love you Dez!
